Geographical (GIS) Mapping and Data Sharing Workshop Held On 19 and 20 November 2009 at Government Accountancy Training Centre (GATC)
Within the framework of the cooperation between the Government of Southern Sudan and the Swiss Development Cooperation (SDC), the Centre for Development and Environment (CDE) of the University of Bern, Switzerland, cooperates with the BSF in mapping for Basic Services in Primary Education, Primary Health and Water & Sanitation. In a follow-up of last year’s SDC/ CDE/ MoH workshop, the CDE team offered a training workshop on Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and in particular mapping and data sharing.
The aim of the first day of the workshop is to get an overview of all available data and how the different institutions and organisations are using these data. The second day is for data sharing and on how to use maps as a planning tool. The afternoon of the second day is also reserved for a clinic, during which organisations can come and ask questions to the GIS experts of CDE.
