CIDA Joins the Basic Services Fund

From the 1st of April the Canadian government joined, through the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), the Basic Services Fund with a contribution of GBP 4.2 million. Therefore it was possible to start up 5 new projects (Round 3b), which were previously already selected by the Steering Committee and were on the waiting list to receive funding from the Basic Services Fund The following projects/ NGOs received a grant for the following projects:

o HARD - Jur River and Wau Counties, Western Bahr el Ghazal - 1 April 2009 - 30 June 2010

o World Vision (in partnership with Tambura and Yambio Diocese) - Tambura and Ezo Counties, Western Equatoria - 1 April 2009 - 30 June 2010

o International Medical Corps (IMC) (in partnership with Presbyterian Relief and Development Agency (PRDA) and Hile Hope Development Fund (NHDF)) - Akobo County, Jonglei - 1 April 2009 - 30 June 2010

o Medair (in partnership with Malaria Consortium (MC) and Fashoda Youth Forum (FYF)) - Manyo County, Upper Nile State - 1 April 2009 - 30 April 2010

o UMCOR (in partnership with the Diocese of Rumbek) - South Aweil County, Northern Bahr el Ghazal - 1 April 2009 - 30 April 2010

The BSF secretariat organised a combined meeting for the round 3a and 3b grant recipients to kick start these 5 new projects and to stock take the implementation process of the 11 projects that started up in January 2009.
